Jonesborough on a Dime

History, culture, and fun can all be done for less in Historic Jonesborough, Tennessee. Families can dance in the streets at an outdoor concert and visit a water park or museum. Couples can stroll through our beautifully preserved historic district and view 40 locations. Visiting the Storytelling Capital of the World would not be complete without listening to a storytelling concert in the afternoon or on Tuesday night. Everyone can research ancestry at our local library. Main Street was once the Great Stage Coach Road and many, many people traveled West through our town.

• Music on the Square outdoor concert (Every Friday night May through September)
• History Museum inside Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center (open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 am until 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm)
• Genealogy research at Jonesborough/Washington County Library (Monday & Thursday from 9 am until 8 pm; Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 am until 6 pm; Saturday from 9 am until 2 pm; closed Sunday).

• Self-guided tour of permanent exhibit at the Natural History Museum at Gray Fossil Site.

• Tuesday night Storytelling at the Cranberry Thistle Restaurant with the Jonesborough Storytelling Guild. ($5)
• The Miocene tour at the Natural History Museum at Gray Fossil Site includes the Miocene Exhibit, Fossil Site, and lab and collection area only. Costs are $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $3 for kids 3-12 years of age.

$10 and Under

• Discounted admission after 3 pm at Wetlands Water Park
• Storytelling at the International Storytelling Center with the Tellers-in-Residence (Tuesday through Saturday at 2pm from May through October- $10 for adults and $9 for students and seniors).
• Contra Dance at the Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center is held twice a month and costs $7 for adults and $4 for students
• The All-Access Pass tour at the Natural History Museum at Gray Fossil Site includes the Miocene Exhibit, actual Fossil Dig Site, upstairs art and activity area, lab and collection area, the traveling temporary exhibit, interactive computer exhibits, dig pit full of fossil finds, and 3-D lab puzzles and games. Costs are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, and $7 for kids 5-12 years of age.
