In a cozy haven tucked away in the Cranberry Thistle Restaurant, members of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild spin their yarns for residents and visitors every Tuesday evening. After a long day of shopping, swimming, or hiking, you can listen to the lore of local storytellers as you enjoy home-style food in the old-fashioned atmosphere of one of Jonesborough’s favorite dining experiences.
Storytelling performances are scheduled every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the Thistle, located across from the court house in downtown Historic Jonesborough. A small admission fee is charged.
Founded in 1994, the Guild supports the region’s storytellers and, today, is the only storytelling guild in the United States with a weekly performance venue. Since its creation, the Guild has grown from seven founding members to over forty. The Jonesborough-based organization also sponsors special concerts and workshops throughout the Southern Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee to celebrate the art of storytelling.
You can discover more about the Guild and the weekly storytelling schedule by visiting www.storytellersguild.org or by calling (423) 753-9882.
