Bays Mountain Park

A short drive from Historic Jonesborough is beautiful Bays Mountain Park. Located “just up the road” in Kingsport, Tennessee and conveniently close to I-26. Bays Mountain Park is a 3,500 acre nature preserve that is a wonderful place for all ages but especially children. Nestled in the southern Appalachians ridges of Bays Mountain, the park has a 44 acre lake, Nature Center, Farmstead Museum, and a spectacular Planetarium Theater with a 40 foot diameter dome.

Open year round, much of the park lies in a natural basin that is a protected haven for wildlife. What you can’t see in the wild, you can see in the Wolf Habitat, the Otter Pool, the Bobcat Enclosure or the Nature Center. Kids love the Herpetarium with the snake wall, and they have on going nature programs on the wolves, snakes, bats, venomous animals, and the live animals at the new Raptor Center.

With barge rides on the lake, 25 miles of trails, and the Farmstead Museum showing the way life existed in the pioneer days, there is plenty for everyone in this beautiful nature preserve.
